About this episode
A friendly fox cub is stuck on one side of a sparkling stream — the stepping stones are too far apart for little paws. Everyone has an idea, but no single idea works on its own.
When Ben, Sophie, Bunny, Puppy and Duckling put their ideas together, the Rainbow Trail answers with a shimmering bridge. A cheerful story about teamwork, problem-solving and trying again.
Lesson & theme
Teamwork & problem-solving
Each friend’s idea is only part of the answer. When they combine them, the problem is solved. It’s a simple way to show children that every helper matters and that it’s okay when the first try doesn’t work.
Questions to talk about together
Pick one or two after watching — there are no wrong answers.
- Why couldn’t Fox cross the stream on his own?
- What ideas did each friend have to help?
- What happened when they put all their ideas together?
- Can you remember a time you solved a problem with a friend or family member?
- If you were there, what idea would you have shared?
Read-aloud story
The Little Fox and the Rainbow Bridge
For grown-ups to read aloud — about 4 minutes. Try pausing at each section to ask, “What do you think happens next?”
Splish, splash, sparkle! The Rainbow Trail led the friends to a bubbling stream that glittered in the sunshine.
On the other side sat a little red-orange fox cub with a fluffy white-tipped tail. He was looking at the stepping stones and sighing.
Too Far for Little Paws
“Hello!” called Sophie. “Are you okay?”
“I want to go home,” said Fox, “but my home is on your side of the stream, and the stones are too far apart for my little legs.”
“We’ll help,” said Ben. “Let’s think.”
Everyone Has an Idea
“I could carry you!” said Puppy. But Puppy was a little too small.
“We could find a log,” said Bunny. They found one, but it was a little too short.
“Quack! We could swim!” said Duckling. But Fox didn’t like getting his fur wet.
Fox’s ears drooped. “It’s no use.”
“Don’t give up,” said Sophie gently. “Maybe each idea is a little piece of the answer.”
The Rainbow Bridge
So they tried again — together. Ben and Sophie placed the short log across the first gap. Puppy and Bunny pushed a flat stone into the next gap. Duckling paddled out to show the safest path.
And as all the friends reached out their hands and paws to help, the Rainbow Trail glowed brighter than ever. A shimmering bridge of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple arched over the water!
Fox trotted across, tail held high. “Thank you, friends! I couldn’t have done it alone.”
“Neither could we,” laughed Ben. And with Fox waving goodbye — for now — the trail glowed onward toward a garden full of flowers.
The End… for now!
